One year after the death of Imre Seszták, the management of FGSZ decided that in his memory one of the main works of his life, the compressor station in Beregdaróc should be named after him from August 3, 2011 onwards. FGSZ published a very nice publication about the life and work of Imre Seszták. You can read the whole publication if you follow the link.

IMRE SESZTÁK

Electrical engineer

(1948−2010)

The life of Imre Seszták was definitely interconnected to the gas industry in 1974 when he was invited, as a young engineer, to take part in the building of the Testvériség pipeline. His strive for perfection and ambition awed his colleagues right away. Three years later he was appointed with an even more attractive and challenging task. The Hungarian Oil and Gas Industry Trust decided at the time that the second compressor station of Hungary should be built in Beregdaróc, in an area with difficult conditions. As the leader of the investment, it was clearly his merit that in the washland of the Old Tisza river, where the “Bereg sandals” were everyday footwear, such a delicate gas industry object was successfully established.

The best evidence for his wisdom and foresight is that 32 years after commissioning, the machine units are still in operation. The existence and operation of this compressor station has become the best example of Hungarian gas transmission. Under his leadership many professional innovations have been realised in Beregdaróc: the first computers of the industry that had technological monitoring and administrative tasks. He inspired László Patlók to create a display with printed circuit boards, manufactured with the photo method, including a Nixie tube, under the brand name Fushiba, that showed the amount of gas transported. His work ethic inspired his colleagues to follow his examples.

Nobody was bothered if the machine units only started in the afternoon during the commissioning period of the compressors, the appointed tasks were always executed with maximum accuracy by him and his colleagues. This loyalty was probably also owing to the fact that Imre Seszták not only cared about executing their tasks but also took care of the professional development of his colleagues. He organized courses at the station with renowned professors from Budapest and Miskolc, and already held language courses in the 1980s. He had a special talent for forming a community. Out of the 60 employees of the plant he formed a really big family due to his personal empathy and several community events.

Beyond his vocation he was also a lover of horses, so as assistance for the route watchmen these clever quadrupeds also got into the inventory books of the plant Nr. 11. He did a lot to help the people living in the area and advanced the development of the whole Bereg region. Beregdaróc and Vásárosnamény were connected to the gas network in the 80’s thanks to his personal intervention. His Christian and altruistic nature always encouraged him to elevate others. Most of them are still working in the gas industry.

Imre Seszták was more than a well-educated engineer and brilliant leader. His life is made immortal and exemplary for all of us by the harmony of his strive for perfection, his innovative spirit and his eternal human values. It is an elevating feeling for the whole gas industry and all his former colleagues, that they could be a part of this. For this reason, one year after his death, FGSZ management decided that as a salute to his memory one of the masterpieces of his life, the Beregdaróc compressor station will bear his name from August 3, 2011.
